🎮 Getting started

1. Extract the client Into a folder inside your own user profile, such as C:\Users\you\Games\RiFT. Avoid Program Files, where Windows blocks writes and the patcher cannot update itself, and avoid Desktop and Documents, which OneDrive syncs by default.
2. Create an account Register here. It takes a minute and needs nothing but a username and a password.
3. Run the patcher Launch it, let it finish, then press Start. Only the first run takes a while.
4. Log in The username and password you registered on this site are the ones the game wants.

🛠️ If it will not start

• DirectX 9 is required. If the game does not open at all, or opens and closes instantly, run ⚙️ opensetup.exe in your client folder and set the graphics mode to DirectX 9. This is by far the most common cause.
• Extract it somewhere Windows leaves alone. Program Files blocks writes, so the patcher cannot update itself. Desktop and Documents are synced by OneDrive, which uploads the whole client endlessly and locks files while the game is using them. Something like C:\Users\you\Games\RiFT avoids both.
• Add the client folder to your antivirus exclusions. Ragnarok clients are routinely flagged as false positives, and some antivirus software deletes files mid-patch without telling you.
• Run as administrator if the patcher still cannot update itself.
